The Granary Guesthouse - Quality Bed and Breakfast accommodation
in historic Cotswold surroundings situated in an area of outstanding natural
beauty in Gloucestershire.
We
are ideally situated for guests who may want to
explore our local Cotswold countryside and visit some of our many notable
areas of interest.
The Granary bed and breakfast guest house itself still retains much of its original character,
including the stone steps at the front of the house where the grain
was taken to be stored. All the upstairs rooms have high vaulted
ceilings retaining the original exposed beams. |

| The Granary is a home and
guests are made very welcome, particularly visitors from overseas looking to
experience authentic English home life in the Cotswold countryside. |

Having lived abroad for many years I came back
to England to live in 1994, acquiring and running a gift shop
in Bibury until September 2003.
Working in the local tourist trade for some
nine years, I feel I am in an ideal situation to run a Bed &
Breakfast in this part of the country. I have come to love the
surrounding countryside, and to know some of the beautiful and
interesting hidden places, architecture, walks, and restaurants
in the locality.
The Cotswold oolitic limestone, used extensively
throughout the local architecture and for stone-walling gives
the whole area its unique, distinctive look.
No matter the season or time of year it is mellow, paler in the
South and honey coloured in the North. |

The Granary is one of eight farm
buildings built between 1830 and 1870, being converted into dwellings
in 1989. Up until that time they had all belonged to the local manor
house in Great Rissington. The 12th century church, the old
rectory, and what was the Home farm farmhouse are also nearby too.
The road to the Granary ends a few yards away, leading to two footpaths,
one winding uphill and the other downhill with magnificent views
of the nearby
Windrush Valley. |
